Resumen-Síntesis

In the face of the rise of fascism in the EU and the refugee crisis, this Jean Monnet project is aimed to address their causes, to promote debates and to exchange ideas in the context of Higher Education
European Union and the European Civil Society. In order to enhance democracy in the EU, this project is driven to offer answers which depeen the justice and solidarity model underpinning the European Charter of Fundamental Rights.

This Jean Monnet project (2020-2023) takes place in the Aula Magna “San Isidoro” at the Univertsity of León (Avenida de la Facultad, 25) and it consists of 10 workshops every year from 4 pm to 21 pm. All workshops are developed with metodologies based on discourse analysis, flipped classroom and dialogical debate. The workshop participants include university students, academics, but also experts from diverse fields and social activists. Starting from the reading and the analysis of different kind of materials (papers, documentaries, films and son on), we will work on the different causes behind the rise of fascism and what specific actions can be proposed in the local context. This aspect is part of a “service-learning” modality as we intend to go beyond discussion and have a broader impact on society. This will be done with the participation of experts and members of social movements, but also through concrete proposals and practices in the environment, the result of dialogue between the different actors involved, which will be translated into actions.
This Jean Monnet project has been funded by the European Commission.
